DEBUT STYLE THROWBACK- 2NE1 EDITION

Debuts are as important in the K-Pop world as elections are to democracies- its a brutal essentiality as it is the definition of 'first impressions always last'- so everything is crucial when it comes to the debut because it sets the pace for the future of a group and its success potential...

The music and video may come first, but definitely doesn't overshadow the importance of fashion and style- none have executed a debut as accurately well as 2NE1...

They had the perfect recipe for a career-defining debut by bringing the 'New Evolution' concept with them in every aspect- first with an electro-hip hop sound no K-Pop girl group had attempted or succeeded in; instead of the typical 'Im-cute-pretty-and-can-dance music video' they took us on a futuristic ride; and their style definitely took our eyes for a ride...

From CL's signature tomboy-hip hop style- which definitely caught the eyes of well everyone- her mohawk curls and sometimes blunt fringe, cut-out leggings with actual sneakers boys wear, also as I like to call it 'hat belt' jean accessory, and to complete the look eye absorbing black 'space' glasses- she does know know what she's doing...

Minzy followed in CL's footsteps (maybe not as elaborately) but she stayed true to herself- which is quite simply- a hip hop dancer- so her hair was an edgy fringe and bob, keeps it real with edgy tights, graphic tee and denim jacket, completed with her infamous 'hulk-punch' hand...

Park Bom is the 'hip hop glamour' of 2NE1 and she cemented that role their debut- starting with her memorable (and appropriate) 'playboy bunny' outfit, followed by her staple, sweetheart fringe, and a polished outfitted look with a touch of future glam...

Dara probably had the most iconic hair of any debut group member- 'the antenna or palm tree hair' and sometimes 'the samurai hair'- followed by her hip-hop, funky look- and no one mixes bollywood dance and electro style quite like her...

They definitely caught our attention with their debut style and we haven't stopped being amazed since then...
